Izlar tapped by ADA as postgraduate course director

American Diabetes Association has tapped Camille Izlar, MS, RD, CDE to serve a two-year term as a course director for the association’s Annual Advanced Postgraduate Course (2013 and 2014).

Izlar is a diabetes educator and clinical instructor with the UNC Diabetes Care Center in Durham, NC.  She is also a registered dietician.

Course directors are charged with developing the program content and selecting speakers.  Historically, according to the ADA, the audience has been approximately 50 percent physicians and 50 percent nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and other health care professionals.  Course directors also serve as moderators during the program. The planning group consists of two physicians, two nurses and two dieticians

The program focuses on the clinical implications of recent key research findings and evidence based strategies for improving care.  Staff will develop a needs assessment/practice gap analysis that will guide the selection of the educational content.  The 2013 course will be held in New York City on February 22 ‑ 24, 2013, and the 2014 course will be in San Francisco in early February.
