Jerry E. Kruse, MD, MSPH is a Professor and Chair, Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
He joined the faculty at SIU in 1984 and has a deep interest in the overlap between medical education and health policy. As a 10 year chair of the School’s curriculum committee, he oversaw the implementation of SIU’s new medical student curriculum. He has chaired the Legislative Affairs Committee and the Academic Family Medicine Advocacy Committees of specialty societies in his discipline. He is also a member of both the Illinois State Board of Health and the federal Council on Graduate Medical Education, an advisory committee to the Secretary of HHS, and has testified to the House Appropriations Committee on behalf of patients and learners.
