Tamera Coyne-Beasley, MD, MPH, Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine, was recently appointed as Chair of the Adult Immunization work group of the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

Dr. Coyne-Beasley was appointed to the ACIP by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2010 and also serves on the Influenza, Measles/Mump/Rubella and Human Papillomavirus work groups.  The ACIP is a group of medical and public health experts that develop recommendations on how to use vaccines to control diseases in the United States. The recommendations stand as public health policy that will lead to a reduction in the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases and an increase in the safe use of vaccines and related biological products.
