Global Health Service Corps Recruitment 2012

The Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP) announces the inaugural season for applications from qualified doctors and nurses, a new program in partnership with the Peace Corps and Global Health Service Corps.

GHSP Peace Corps Volunteers will serve one year assignments as faculty members of medical and nursing schools. The program will launch in Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda in July 2013.

GHSP are seeking board-eligible or board-certified physicians to serve as medical educators for a minimum of one year at one of their partner sites. Experience in clinical education is encouraged. Eligible clinical specialties include: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Family Medicine.

Volunteers serving through the program will be Peace Corps Response volunteers receiving monthly living stipends, transportation to and from their country of service, comprehensive medical care, vacation days, and readjustment allowance. The Global Health Service Corps will dedicate funds to help finance loan repayment stipends up to $30K for eligible volunteers.

Applications are due Oct. 15, 2012. The first cohort will be named in February 2013 for a July 2013 deployment. Accepted applicants will begin in July 2013. Eligible applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in their clinical discipline, U.S. citizens and with active medical licenses.
