Carolina-CCNE TraCS Pilot Grant Opportunity
The Carolina Center of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence (C-CCNE), in collaboration with UNC TraCS Institute, will consider brief proposals for their joint Pilot Grant Program. The deadline for submission is Sept. 16, 2013.
Williams receives HONORS award
Margaret Williams, a student at the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is one of 19 students selected to receive a 2013 Hematology Opportunities for the Next Generation of Research Scientists (HONORS) award.
Stuber awarded 2013 Freedman Prize
Garret Stuber, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Cell and Molecular Physiology, was awarded the 2013 Freedman Prize for Exceptional Basic Research from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.
UNC Eye Care Center Relocating on August 21
On August 21, UNC Eye Care Center will open its doors to provide care to patients at its new location, off Interstate 40, exit 273A, across from the Mardi Gras Bowling Center near the intersection of State Road 54 and Farrington Road.

To avoid losing wireless connectivity, users should install the UNC-Secure configuration as soon as possible.
Required one-time training for changes to HIPAA rule
Between now and September 15, each member of the UNC School of Medicine workforce (faculty, staff, students, employees, volunteers, etc.) will be required to complete a 5-10 minute training module to learn more about the recent changes in the HIPAA Rules.
Voice Over IP phone transition update: August 15
Phone installations are underway in Thurston Bowles and should be completed this week. The next School of Medicine building will be scheduled at a later date. Please also note that MacNider, Old Clinic and Lineberger Cancer Center will not be a part of the November VOIP transition, due to additional time needed to develop engineering solutions to solve infrastructure issues in those buildings.
