CPX brings together standardized patients and a high-tech monitoring system to test medical students
To graduate from the UNC School of Medicine, students must pass the Clinical Performance Examination (CPX), a test that combines use of standardized patients, a feature of the UNC curriculum since the early 1980s, with a high-tech monitoring system that enhances learning and teaching.

Mackman awarded $1.5-million grant from NIH-NHLBI
Nigel Mackman, PhD, John Parker Distinguished Professor of Hematology/Oncology and Director of the McAllister Heart Institute, was awarded a $1.5-million, four-year grant from the NIH-NHLBI to study the role of the thrombin-PAR1 pathway in viral infection.

Dr. Gibbons will give an address to investigators interested in the research of the NHLBI entitled, "Charting Our Future Together: Setting an Agenda for the NHLBI."

Building Change to Voice Over IP (VOIP) project
As a result of issues found during the initial building surveys, the following buildings will NOT be part of the phone migration scheduled for November 2013: MacNider, Old Clinic, and Lineberger. Each of them will require some engineering work before they can be migrated (see details below). Once the engineering work is complete, the buildings will be put back in rotation for migration. The deadline for getting all buildings on campus migrated is the end of 2014.
