CHIP Lecture: Clinical Intelligence with Epic

Clinical Intelligence is a rapidly growing and evolving field that uses data to improve healthcare outcomes. In this presentation, Mr. Yosick, from Epic, will share specific examples in which analytical and quantitative methods were used to accomplish objectives as diverse as predictive modeling for patient mortality, measuring differences in the quality of healthcare across regions, and assessing the effectiveness of process improvements in clinical workflows. He will also discuss the future of healthcare analytics and how healthcare providers are leveraging the fields of big data, predictive modeling, and expert systems to improve healthcare.

Tom Yosick is a Software Developer and Product Lead at Epic, a Health Information Technology software vendor serving medical groups and health systems.  Mr. Yosick is responsible for Clinical Decision Support product development activities, and also leads the Analytics and Clinical Intelligence research and development groups within Epic.  In his role, Mr. Yosick sets product direction and strategy to help Epic’s customers utilize clinical and financial information to improve patient health and organizational operational performance. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington.
