Roper urges North Carolina state leadership to expand Medicaid services

In recent meetings with Governor McCrory, Speaker Thom Tills and Senate President Pro-Tem Phil Berger, William L. Roper, MD, MPH, CEO of UNC Health Care and Dean of the UNC School of Medicine, discussed health care issues affecting the state.

Dr. Bill Roper met with North Carolina state leadership to emphasize UNC's willingness to work together with other health care leaders to partner with the Governor’s team and legislative leaders to improve the health of North Carolinians through Medicaid expansion and other key healthcare efforts across the state.

“Our mission is to provide high-quality care to all who come through our doors, regardless of their ability to pay, and we are committed to doing everything we can to meet that mission,” continued Dr. Roper. By expanding Medicaid eligibility, many North Carolinians will be able to receive health care coverage and get access to physician and hospital services for the first time.
