Health Sciences Library honors Dr. George Sheldon with exhibit

To honor his legacy, HSL librarians have assembled an exhibit in the flat display cases on the first floor. The exhibit features articles both about and authored by Dr. Sheldon, as well as many of the physical items he donated.

The Health Sciences Library lost a great friend and supporter when Dr. George F. Sheldon, MD, FACS, former Chair of Surgery for The University of North Carolina Department of Surgery, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013.

Over the years, Dr. Sheldon gifted the library with materials, books and personal papers as well as financial support as a Friend of the HSL. He also taught his History of Medicine class here in the HSL and served as long-time leader of the Bullitt History of Medicine Club, which meets in the HSL. To honor his legacy, our librarians have assembled an exhibit in the flat display cases on the first floor. The exhibit features articles both about and authored by Dr. Sheldon, as well as many of the physical items he donated. You can view all the items in the libraries collection that Dr. Sheldon donated or authored here.
