Carson elected Chair of American Thoracic Society’s Critical Care Assembly

Shannon Carson, MD, Professor of Medicine and Division Chief, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine, was elected to a two-year term as Chair of the American Thoracic Society's Critical Care Assembly at the ATS International Conference in May.

The Chair of the Assembly is primarily responsible for developing and evaluating new initiatives and projects of the Assembly. With more than 6,000 primary and secondary members, the Critical Care Assembly is the largest Assembly of the American Thoracic Society. The Assembly consists of a diverse group of adult and pediatric intensivists and other allied health care professionals involved in the care of the critically ill patients.The primary goal of the Assembly is to improve the care of the critically ill through education, research, and professional development.
