Each year, the Washington University Medical Center Alumni Association honors nominees whose professional achievements, service to community and dedication to the School of Medicine are deemed noteworthy.

A Class of '73 graduate, Lee noted: “It’s always an honor to be recognized by one’s peers. The joke with awards in career medicine is that they come at the end of your career. I’m as active now as I was during my years as chair. I guess I should feel particularly honored to receive this recognition at a point when I have no intention of retiring from radiology.”

On Lee’s award plaque, the Washington University Medical Center Alumni Association stated that Lee was chosen as a 2013 Alumni Achievement Award recipient “as a highly accomplished radiologist, scientist and educator, [who] by performing research to establish utility of critical diagnostic tools and authoring seminal works on CT and MR imaging of abdominal and pelvic organs, has made groundbreaking contributions to radiology.”
