Stefanini wins 2013 Kenneth Brinkhous Young Investigator Prize

Congratulations to Lucia Stefanini, PhD, assistant professor of biochemistry and biophysics, for being selected as the winner of the 2013 Kenneth Brinkhous Young Investigator Prize in Thrombosis from the American Heart Association.

Dr. Stefanini was presented with a plaque on May 2 at the council dinner of the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Spring meeting in Orlando.

Dr. Stefanini currently works in Dr. Wolfgang Bergmeier's laboratory. Their research focuses on the adhesion mechanisms of platelets and neutrophils to sites of vascular injury/ activation.

The Kenneth M. Brinkhous Young Investigator Award in Thrombosis recognizes those innovative individuals in their research in Thrombosis in detection, treatment and prevention.
