This discussion will include some methods of setting up an IPE experience for our learners, including the benefits of IPE and the challenges in setting up such education opportunities. The format to this workshop will be a 15-minute "mini lecture" by Dr. Benny Joyner, followed by an in-depth facilitated discussion of all participants in the session.
Dr. Benny Joyner is the Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Clinical Co-Director of The Clinical Skills and Patient Simulation Center, Clerkship Director of the 4th year Medical Student Critical Care Selective and Associate Program Director of the Pediatrics Residency Program at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Dr. Joyner will examine the following goals:
- The overall value of IPE
- Ways to develop and recognize IPE within current courses (and learning sessions)
- Challenges associated with the use of IPE
