State Health Plan Benefits Enrollment Extended until Nov. 15

The State Health Plan and NCFlex have decided to extend the benefits enrollment period due to the large number of State employees who have not yet taken action regarding their benefits.

This message is from the UNC School of Medicine Office of Human Resources

The State Health Plan and NCFlex have decided to extend the benefits enrollment period due to the large number of State employees who have not yet taken action regarding their benefits. The enrollment period will now be extended through Friday, Nov. 15.

Because our University benefits are also included in this enrollment period, we will extend the enrollment period for our MetLife and Reliance Standard AD&D plans as well.

Employees will now have until Nov. 15 to take action on their benefits. As a reminder, all current State Health Plan members (and their dependents) will be moved to the Traditional 70/30 Plan if they do not take action to enroll in either the Enhanced 80/20 Plan or the Consumer Directed Health Plan. The State Health Plan has also created a video to address frequently asked questions about the new Consumer Directed Health Plan option.

Due to the late notice of this extension, the Benefits Office will not change our previously scheduled computer lab availability in the Administrative Office Building. We will still be available for questions beginning Monday, Oct. 28, and continuing through Thursday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or employees can use one of the computer stations to complete their enrollment during those times.

State Health Plan members who have not taken action as of Oct. 17 will receive a postcard about this extension in the mail at their home address.
