First Tobacco Road Medical Research Symposium

Nobel Laureate, Robert Lefkowitz, MD, will deliver the keynote address at the Tobacco Road Medical Research Symposium, which is a joint effort of the UNC and Duke MD-PhD training programs.

The symposium is sponsored by the Kenan-Biddle Partnership, which is designed to foster collaboration between the two universities.

Dr. Lefkowitz received the 2012 Noble Prize in Chemistry for his groundbreaking work on G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). His talk is titled "A brief history of seven transmembrane receptors."  

The keynote address will take place at 4 p.m. at the school in the main auditorium of the Molecular Biomedical Research Building (MBRB). Student research presentations and poster sessions will begin at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
