Dear Colleagues:

I write to request that you save the date -- Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 5:30 - 8 p.m. -- to join me for the 30th annual Norma Berryhill Distinguished Lecture. I am pleased to announce that Dr. Mike Cohen, Associate Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs; Director, Institute of Global Health and Infectious Disease; Professor of Epidemiology; J. Herbert Bate Distinguished Professor; Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology; and Chief, Division of Infectious Disease, will deliver the lecture to be held at the Carolina Club.

This year the biennial New Faculty Welcome event will be combined with the lecture; and, as part of the program, I will introduce the new faculty by department. In this 30th year of the lecture, it is natural to celebrate the sense of community created and nurtured by Mrs. Berryhill. Following the lecture there will be a reception with light refreshments.

Please mark your calendars and plan to join your School of Medicine colleagues and alumni for this important annual event. Invitations will follow in the fall.
