The grant, aimed at fostering leadership development and service to the community, awards $9,000 over a three year period. The approved proposal involves service leadership and opportunities for education and exploration of multidisciplinary care at UNC.

A new senior medical student course will be established for students to rotate in areas with strong multidisciplinary care, including the Craniofacial Clinic, the NC Pediatric Airway Center, and the Head and Neck Tumor Board. Students will also participate in a leadership curriculum, and a student interest group will be established to invite speakers and engage medical students in the growing role of multidisciplinary care.

Involved faculty include Dr. Amelia Drake, Dr. Carlton Zdanski, Dr. Mark Weissler, Dr. Brent Golden, and Dr. Jeyhan Wood. The student group is comprised of Justin Morse, Stephanie Kiser, Emily Cohn and Jacob Stein.  For more information, see the upcoming AOA press release here.
