Please read for a message from Dr. Roper about this event, which will be hosted by the UNC AMSA chapter on campus Oct. 25-26.

Dear Students,

The UNC School of Medicine AMSA Chapter is hosting an event here on campus that I encourage you to attend.  Thanks to the student leaders who have done the planning.

The AMSA Training Ground: Seize Your Advantage in Public and Global Health will be held at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. In the morning, students will examine today's pressing issues in global and public health. The afternoon will be filled with discussion and hands-on problem solving. In addition, there will be professional skills development and clinical skills workshops.

Confirmed speakers and facilitators include leading experts in global health, medicine, sociology, anthropology, human rights, and health policy, and include John Flanigan, MD, Center for Global Health at NIH and Preston Reynolds, MD, PhD, MACP, Center on Health Disparities at UVA School of Medicine, as well as thought leaders from the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity, Health GAP, the US National Committee for UN Women, RESULTS, Duke, Wake Forest, and more. I will be there on Oct. 25 giving the opening welcome, and hope to see you there.
