Colin G. "Tim" Thomas, Jr., 1918-2014
Colin Gordon Thomas, Jr., internationally recognized surgeon, revered medical educator, outstanding scholar, pioneering research scientist, and devoted Tar Heel, died on September 2, 2014 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at the age of 96.

Broadhurst, Cline, and Goheen named 2014 Benjamin H. Kean Travel Fellows in Tropical Medicine
The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) has announced the 2014 recipients of the Benjamin H. Kean Travel Fellowship in Tropical Medicine. Through a highly competitive process, 22 Fellows from 18 medical schools were selected. From the UNC School of Medicine, Rob Broadhurst, Amelia Cline, and Morgan Goheen were named 2014 Fellows .

In assistant professor Steven King’s “Design and Development of Mobile Apps” course in the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication, however, this semester’s students went straight to work brainstorming how to visually represent statistics of Liberia’s Ebola crisis.

The North Carolina AIDS Training and Education Center (NCATEC) will be hosting a comprehensive 2-day training event on October 30-31 in Charlotte, NC.
