The October 1 go-live of the Finance and HR/Payroll components of ConnectCarolina will change how University transactions are entered and processed. It will also change the way that reporting is done, with InfoPorte becoming the primary reporting and data analysis tool.

The combination of ConnectCarolina and InfoPorte creates a holistic tool for processing, analyzing and presenting Finance and HR/Payroll data.

ConnectCarolina’s reporting structure has two parts. Transactional data such as purchases and new hires is entered through PeopleSoft – ConnectCarolina’s foundation. That data is extracted nightly from PeopleSoft into a new data warehouse and reorganized to facilitate reporting.

InfoPorte will be used to pull the data from the warehouse. InfoPorte is a parameter based system, meaning users arrive at the output they are looking for by selecting from various criteria. That data can then easily be exported to Excel or PDF. Additional tools embedded within InfoPorte will give users across campus the ability to engage in deeper analysis.

Many schools are already using Infoporte, and the majority of its functionality will remain unchanged. It will, however, have a new look and feel and adjusted parameters as a result of the transition to the University’s new chartfield structure and department numbers.

For new InfoPorte users, training is available through complementary computer-based courses and live system demos.

InfoPorte is accessible through the ConnectCarolina portal. But, access to InfoPorte is not automatically granted based on access to PeopleSoft. It will be granted by a designated InfoPorte administrator within each school, division and department.
