National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment: Research Grants

The National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment has released a call for proposals for investigator-initiated research and provides support for education, health and safety research and development. Proposals can request up to $250,000 if applying for the traditional research grants.

The UNC Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations has identified the following private funding opportunity/opportunities:

NOCSAE commissions research in sports medicine and science, and, where feasible, establishes standards for athletic equipment. Grant program funds investigator-initiated research and provides support for education, health and safety research and development. Two different areas of funding: small pilot developmental studies (cannot exceed $50,000 in direct cost over one year) and traditional research projects (cannot exceed $250,000 in direct costs over two [2] years). Research topics of interest include:

  • Studies that inform existing helmet safety standards
  • Investigators developing youth helmet standards
  • Mechanical and biological mechanisms of injury and recovery
  • Application of developed tools and equipment for injury prevention

 Letter of Intent Deadline: May 4, 2015. NOCSAE Board of Directors will review Letters of Intent. Full proposals accepted by invitation only. Full proposals due by July 1, 2015. Application Guidelines for award.
