Leadership Transitions at the Medical Foundation

The Medical Foundation of North Carolina is a charitable not-for-profit organization that raises private philanthropic funds to support the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and UNC Health Care.

Ann Braun, President of the Medical Foundation and Associate Dean for Development of the UNC School of Medicine, will step down on November 2, to return to California with her family.  We are fortunate to have had her steadfast commitment and tireless leadership during a year of enormous growth, success and progress at the Foundation and we thank Ann for her efforts.

The Executive Committee of the Medical Foundation together with Dean Bill Roper has asked Cam Enarson, MD, MBA, to assume the position of Interim President, in addition to his role as Senior Vice President, Carolina Value, during this transition.  Previously, Cam served as Vice Dean for Finance and Administration, UNC School of Medicine. They will initiate the search for a permanent replacement immediately, although realistically the search will likely take four to six months.

In FY 2015, the Medical Foundation had its best fundraising year ever to benefit UNC Health Care and the School of Medicine.  The Foundation exceeded their 2015 goal of $115 million by over 3 million with $118 million raised from philanthropic gifts and grants—a 12% increase from FY 2014.

With the leadership of Dean Roper, a dedicated Board and an exceptional staff, the Medical Foundation is poised for great success. We will continue to actively raise funds to support our medical education, research and patient care programs.  We are extremely excited about the opportunities for medicine and the solid foundation built for the ONECarolina Campaign for Medicine.
