Re: CFO Announcement

We are pleased to announce that Patricia “Patsy” Oliver has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the UNC School of Medicine. Patsy will oversee the financial operations for the academic and clinical responsibilities of the school. In this role, she will report to Dr. Paul Godley and John Lewis.  Among other duties, her responsibilities will include accounting, budgeting, research grant management and performance analysis.  Patsy will begin in her new position July 20.

Patsy is currently the Associate Dean for Finance & Business Operations, a position she assumed in 2007.  She has worked for the School of Medicine for 15 years and for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1984.  Patsy holds bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Business from Elon University.  She was awarded the C. Knox Massey Distinguished Service Award for “unusual, meritorious or superior contribution…to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.”  She serves, or has served, on numerous University committees and is a widely acknowledged subject matter resource and technical expert across the University, SOM, and Health Care System.

We also want to thank Hunter Wagstaff who has ably served the Faculty Practice as CFO for seven years.  Hunter will serve as Treasurer for the UNC Health Care System, also effective July 20.

Please join us in congratulating Patsy and Hunter for their new responsibilities and thanking them for their many years of service to the UNC School of Medicine and the UNC Health Care System.
