The 5th Annual Oliver Smithies Nobel Symposium is hosting a panel discussion on open access publishing.  Panelists include visiting Nobel Laureate Dr. Randy Schekman, HHMI Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of California-Berkeley. 

The other panelists are from UNC-Chapel Hill and include Dr. Greg Copenhaver, associate professor of biology and editor-in-chief of PLoS; Anne Gilliland, associate librarian and scholarly communications officer; and Dr. Todd Vision, associate professor of biology and chair of the UNC Open Access Task Force.  The panel moderator is Dr. Paola Giusti-Rodriguez, UNC postdoctoral fellow. 

The annual Oliver Smithies Nobel Symposium is organized by a committee of postdoctoral fellows and supported by a gift from Dr. Oliver Smithies, 2007 Nobel Laureate; the School of Medicine Office of Research; and grants from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
