NC TraCS remembers Dr. Sharon Elliott-Bynum

Elliott-Bynum died Sunday, Jan. 3 at the age of 58. Elliott-Bynum, along with her late sister Pat, founded Healing with CAARE, Inc., a non-profit organization in Durham that provides health and wellness services to vulnerable populations.

CAARE is a remarkable agency that has been a cornerstone of the Durham community for two decades. In addition to the legacy of she and her sister created with CAARE, Inc. and numerous accomplishments, Sharon was REC scholar, TraCS CAB member, and TraCS Pilot grantee. 

Congressman G. K. Butterfield will be on the House Floor Friday, January 8th between 10:00-10:30am to recognize Dr. Elliott-Bynum’s innumerable contributions to the Durham community and honor her remarkable life.  Congressman Butterfield’s remarks can be see on CSPAN http://www.c-span.org 

A Celebration of Life for Sharon Elliott-Bynum will be held Friday at St. Joseph’s AME Church, 2521 Fayetteville Road in Durham. There will be a public viewing from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by an Omega Omega ceremony at 6:30 p.m. and the Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.
