Topic: Careers and Partnership with Industry

Speaker: Dr. Dhavalkumar Patel, Head of Research Europe and Global Head, Autoimmunity, Transplantation and Inflammation (ATI) Disease Area at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). Among many other roles held, Dr. Patel is the former Director of UNC’s Thurston Arthritis Research Center.

Possible topics to discuss:

-          Is there a way to enhance the value of what UNC can bring to a pharma partner for a clinical activity – clinical trial?

-          Are there opportunities to showcase programs that we should take advantage of?

-          Any exciting new technologies or possibilities that we in academia should be aware of?

-          What are the challenges of scientific life in pharma?
