The Larry Keith Advisory College, an advising and professional development program established in 2008 at the UNC School of Medicine, is looking for the right individuals to join this dynamic group. The Lung Cancer Research Foundation is accepting applications for projects focused on one or more of the following areas of research: basic science, translational research, clinical research, supportive care, quality of care/outcomes. Award amount is up to $150,000 over two years. Application deadline is July 1, 2016.
The Whitehall Foundation is interested in basic research in neurobiology and preference is given to junior investigators. Research grants are available to established scientists of all ages working at accredited institutions in the United States. Award amount up to $75,000 per year. Research grants of up to three years will be provided. A renewal grant with a maximum of two years is possible, but it will be awarded on a competitive basis. LOI is due by Oct.1.
Alison Brenner, PhD, MPH, deputy director of research for the Decision Support Lab at the Cecil G Sheps Center for Health Services, was first author and Dan Reuland, MD, MPH, a UNC Lineberger member and professor in the UNC School of Medicine, was senior author of a paper published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Multiple other UNC researchers were collaborators on the study, called "Colorectal Cancer Screening in Vulnerable Patients."
