Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance: General Research Grant

The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) is accepting Letters of Intent (LOIs) to support projects that target FARA’s research priorities to advance the understanding of neuroscience/neuro systems, advance drug discovery, facilitate the drug development process and translational research, and advance clinical research. Award amount up to $150,000 per year for up to two (2) years. The LOI deadline is February 1, 2018.

PhRMA Foundation: Faculty Development Award

The PhRMA Foundation is accepting applications to support physician-scientists pursuing a career in clinical pharmacology and to encourage the development of junior research-oriented faculty who will use molecular, cell and systems pharmacology to advance human research. As the cancer program director for UNC Project-Malawi, Satish Gopal, MD, MPH, is working to build the care infrastructure that will both help Malawi address its rising cancer burden and serve as a model for effective cancer care in low-resource settings across the globe. Tamiwe Tomoka, MBBS, is a Malawian pathologist jointly appointed as faculty at the University of Malawi College of Medicine (COM) and UNC. She leads the Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) Pathology Laboratory in Lilongwe, Malawi, a collaboration between the Malawi Ministry of Health and UNC.The laboratory is the sole provider of diagnostic pathology services to the northern and central regions of Malawi, inclusive of approximately 8 million people.
