Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development to Host Town Halls to Review AAMC Faculty Engagement Survey Results
This summer, the UNC School of Medicine participated in the AAMC’s Faculty Forward Faculty Engagement Survey to assess faculty members’ engagement and opinions of our work environment. In February, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development will host a series of Town Hall meetings to discuss institutional results and hear from faculty members about the best methods for effecting change.
Gail Henderson to Advise Federal Agencies on Human Genome Initiatives and to Present at HIV Conference in Thailand
The new year is proving fruitful for Gail Henderson, PhD. The professor of Social Medicine and Director of the Center for Genomics and Society at UNC has been confirmed for a four-year term as a member of the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research, and asked to speak at the 19th Bangkok International Symposium on HIV Medicine.
OIA Global Health Forum featuring Martha Carlough
The first OIA Global Health Forum of 2017 will feature Martha Carlough, MD, MPH, Director, Office of International Activities, who will provide an update on global child malnutrition. Coffee and light snacks will be provided.

The next edition of the UNC HIV Cure Seminar Series will feature Ya-Chi Ho, MD, PhD, of Johns Hopkins University who will discuss “Cytotoxic T lymphocytes shape the landscape of HIV-1 proviruses.”

The Carolina Seminar Series, “The Attrition of Women Faculty From Science: Developing Targeted Research Mentoring Strategies” invites female Associate Professors in the non-medical sciences (3- 5 years in rank) to participate in a lunch discussion to help identify effective mentoring strategies to support mid-career women faculty on UNC’s campus. The sciences includes behavioral, physical, mathematical, and biological sciences.
