The Council of Graduate Medical Education advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and the House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce.

As part of its work, the Council provides advice and recommendations related to issues such as: the supply and distribution of physicians across the U.S., current or future shortages or excesses in particular specialties or subspecialties, and issues related to international medical school graduates.

"I’m excited by this opportunity to support the nation’s efforts to improve access to physician services in the United States," Fraher said of her appointment.
