Since 2009, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has released its annual Missions Management Tool report to highlight the missions and goals of the AAMC’s member institutions. The 2016 report contains data on 45 measures across six categories and once again, UNC School of Medicine sits among the national leaders in many measures. American Society for Dermatologic Surgery: 2017 ASDS Cutting Edge Research Grant

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) is accepting applications to support research relevant to dermatologic surgeons and the dermatology specialty at large. ASDS members are strongly encouraged to submit proposals for board-directed research topics as well as research into evidence-based medicine, comparative efficacy research, quality studies and patient safety studies. The award amount is up to $20,000. Application deadline is July 3, 2017.

Muscular Dystrophy Association: Discovery Research Grants

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is accepting Letters of Intent (LOIs) to support independent, established investigators to accelerate progress toward understanding and treating muscle disease. Discovery research includes the search for understanding the causes of disease, unraveling pathways involved in disease, identifying novel drug targets, and testing new strategies to treat disease. The goal for discovery research is to form a solid foundation which informs and accelerates all subsequent drug development. Award amount is up to $60,000 per year for up to three (3) years. The LOI deadline is June 15, 2017 by 11:59pm EST. The LOI portal will open approximately one month prior to LOI deadline.

Foundation for Women's Wellness: FWW Research Award

The Foundation for Women’s Wellness (FWW) is accepting applications to support small, short-term studies with promise for improving medical knowledge in cardiovascular disease, leading female cancers, the role of hormones in disease and stage-of-life health issues such as pregnancy and menopause and diseases disproportionately affecting women. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is accepting applications to address the existing funding gap for investigator initiated biological clinical trials for childhood cancers. ALSF expects successfully proposals to accelerate the delivery of high impact therapeutics to children. The award aims to provide funding to support investigator-initiated clinical trials using biologic therapies, including but not limited to immunotherapy (including cell therapies), gene therapy and small molecules.
