Sharpless discusses NCI priorities

Ned Sharpless, MD, director of the National Cancer Institute and former director of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, outlined his priorities in a speech at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting and in an interview with the Washington Post.

In his remarks, Sharpless, who previously served as director of the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Wellcome Distinguished Professor in Cancer Research at UNC, outlined his top priorities of recommitting to basic science, utilizing big data, and improving the clinical trials system.
