Gold Humanism Honor Society celebrates Resident Appreciation Week
During the week of March 26-30, the UNC chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society celebrated its annual Resident Appreciation Week. Events included a Maple View ice cream social attended by more than 200 residents, a photobooth and nutrition workshop, puppy therapy, a week of free yoga from Franklin Street Yoga Studio, and discounts at local restaurants throughout the week.
Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, Program to Accelerate Clinical Trials
UPCOMING DEADLINE: The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) is accepting Letters of Intent (LOIs) with the goal to increase the number of innovative treatments tested in humans for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Award amount up to $3,000,000, based on stage and scope of research. The LOI deadline is April 13, 2018 by 5:00pm EST.
Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation: Faculty/Post-doctoral Research Grant
The Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation, a fund established with The New York Community Trust, is accepting applications to support the research of faculty members or postdoctoral researchers. Areas of interest to the Fund are: studies to develop, refine, evaluate, or disseminate innovative interventions designed to prevent or ameliorate major social, psychological, behavioral or public health problems affecting children, adults, couples, families, or communities, or studies that have the potential for adding significantly to knowledge about such problems. Award amount up to $20,000. The application deadline is May 1, 2018.
International Anesthesia Research Society: IARS Mentored Research Awards (MRA)
The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) is accepting applications to support investigations that will further the understanding of clinical practice in anesthesiology and related sciences. The grants are intended to help create future leaders and prepare applicants to apply for independent research funding. An eligible applicant must be IARS members and be an investigator who has yet to establish substantial independent research funding or who is initiating a new research area. Award amount up to $175,000 over two (2) years. The application deadline is April 30, 2018.

Annual Touch a Truck Fundraiser rescheduled for April 29
Due to rain, Boy Scout Troop 39’s Touch a Truck fundraiser was rescheduled for April 29. The event will be held from noon – 4:00 PM at the Friday Center. The event benefits the UNC Children's Hospital.
