The Children’s Research Institute Seminar Series presents its January speaker, Joseph Muenzer, MD, PhD for his talk, "Treatment of Mucopolysaccharidoses: Current Status and Future Challenges." The Children's Research Institute Seminar Series every month, encouraging interaction between researchers investigating childhood diseases and fostering new research through exposure to cutting-edge, ongoing work.

Our speaker for this month will be Joseph Muenzer, MD, PhD.  Dr. Muenzer will share updates on his research efforts and experiences as a physician scientist balancing clinical care with research, including:

  • Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) and current avenues of treatment;
  • clinical trials in enzyme replacement therapy, gene therapy and the development of future treatments;
  • navigating the challenges inherent to the study and treatment of a rare disease.

The event will start with Dr. Muenzer's presentation, followed by time for questions and a 20-minute research strategy discussion on building collaborations and securing funding.
