American Diabetes Association: Core Program - Junior Faculty Development Award

UPCOMING DEADLINE: The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is accepting applications to support early investigators who are establishing their independence as diabetes researchers. The award provides salary and research project support for up to four years, to enable the investigator to develop an independent and sustainable research program. Junior Faculty Development Awards can be used to support basic, clinical or translational research projects. Award amount up to $138,000 per year for up to four (4) years. The application deadline is April 16, 2018 by 5:00pm ET.

METAvivor: Early Career Investigator Award

METAvivor is accepting applications to support novel, high-quality research in metastatic breast cancer performed by the most promising up-and-coming investigators. The goal of this RFP is to provide a supporting foundation for basic, translational, and clinical research designed to address critical problems or barriers to progress in the field of metastatic breast cancer. METAvivor ONLY funds research that has clear potential to benefit those who are living with metastatic breast cancer (i.e. the already-metastasized or stage IV patient). Award amount up to $50,000. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is accepting applications to support creative and innovative projects that hold significant promise for advancing the prevention, cure or treatment of diabetes. Early and established investigators, including those who have not previously worked in the field of diabetes, may apply for this award. For the purposes of this award, basic research is defined as investigation into the fundamental cellular, molecular and biochemical mechanisms underlying the development, detection, treatment and management of diabetes and its complications. Educational Tools Demonstrate Multidisciplinary Bedside Rounds

A new bedside rounding approach will become standard for internal medicine teaching teams at UNC Medical Center. Last year, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) selected UNC as a funding recipient for Back to Bedside, a resident-led initiative to empower medical residents and fellows to increase time with patients, to improve both physician and patient well-being. Medicine residents won a grant to implement a multidisciplinary project. The pilot began in October 2017.
