The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a well-qualified leader to serve as Chair for the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is nationally recognized for its excellence and is ranked in the top five U.S. public universities in both microbiology and immunology. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides a highly collaborative and interactive environment. The department ranks second in the nation for NIH funding. The Microbiology and Immunology faculty pursue basic and translational research in immunology, microbial interactions, and virology with collaborators across clinical and basic science departments within the School of Medicine and across other Health Sciences campuses including Schools of Public Health, Pharmacy, and Dentistry. The selected individual will provide leadership and direction to a diverse group of 176 faculty, staff, and trainees that contribute to the research and educational missions of the department. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D., M.D./

D.O. degree, a distinguished record of research accomplishment, a strong commitment to education and diversity, and a clear demonstration of the qualities needed to lead and manage a multifaceted academic department.
