Wendell Yarbrough, MD, MMHC, has been named Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, effective September 17, 2018. Harold C. Pillsbury, MD, Thomas J. Dark Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, announced last year that he would step down from his position as Chair after 17 years in the role.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - Global Grand Challenges - Ending the Pandemic Threat: A Grand Challenge for Universal Influenza Vaccine

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is accepting Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) to support unconventional approaches that effectively drive or harness immune responses in desired way and develop universal influenza vaccines that are ready to start clinical trials by 2021. The award amount is between $250,000 up to $2 million. The LOI deadline is June 22, 2018 by 11:30am PDT.
