UNC Hospitals is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Moe Lim to Associate Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Services. In this role, Dr. Lim will provide senior medical leadership to perioperative practice across the Medical Center, including perioperative areas at the UNC Medical Center (main campus and Hillsborough Hospital) and the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Dr. Lim has served since February 2018 as Outpatient Services Medical Director. In this capacity he has contributed significantly to ensuring uniform clinical excellence across all Medical Center outpatient practice. As Dr. Lim transitions to his new role, Outpatient Services leadership is working actively to appoint a new Medical Director. In the interim, Dr. Lim will continue to provide leadership as a member of the Outpatient Services leadership team.

Dr. Lim is a Professor in the Department of Orthopedics, specializing in spine surgery. Dr. Lim attended Harvard Medical School, and received specialty training at the Hospital for Special Surgery / Cornell University, and the Rothman Institute of Thomas Jefferson University. His prior significant leadership contributions include serving as Surgeon-in-Chief for the UNC Hillsborough Hospital, Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Quality for Orthopedics, Chair of the UNC Faculty Practice Patient Experience Committee, and an elected member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee.
