New Faculty to Join the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery

Catherine J. Lumley, MD, and Travis P. Schrank, MD, PhD, joined the department of otolaryngology/head and neck surgery this month as assistant professors.

Catherine J. Lumley, MD, completed her otolaryngology residency at Georgetown University and received her fellowship training in advanced surgical head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction here at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr. Lumley specializes in head and neck oncology with a special interest in skin cancer, mucosal malignancies such as oral cavity cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, and larynx cancer, salivary gland tumors, cancer of the palate and jaw and microvascular reconstruction with free tissue transfer. Dr. Lumley is currently seeing patients in the ENT Oncology Clinic at the N.C. Cancer Hospital. 

Travis P. Schrank, MD, PhD, received his otolaryngology residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed fellowship training in advanced surgical head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction here at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After fellowship, he spent one year as a post doc researcher at the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center. Dr. Schrank will focus on all general ear, nose, and throat needs including sinus and ear infections, breathing problems, nose bleeds, dizziness, etc. and will be seeing patients at Granville Medical Center in Oxford, NC.
