At the close of FY 2019, the Foundation announced that giving totaled more than $172 million, greatly exceeding fundraising goals for the year. These gifts will support life-changing advances for people in North Carolina and around the globe.

“I am immensely proud of our Foundation team for the hard work they have put in this year, and honored to work with our outstanding donors who are so passionate and unwavering in their support for our mission,” said Leslie Nelson-Bernier, President of the Medical Foundation of North Carolina and Associate Dean for Development of the UNC School of Medicine.

The stories behind this fundraising total help emphasize its importance.

Gifts made this year helped to support a new patient care and research center for patients with rare diseases, facilitated the implementation of new ideas and novel treatments for autoimmune conditions, and provided dedicated funds ensuring progress toward a cure for cancer.

As one donor said, “We want our gift inspire others to consider how they might make a difference in something they care deeply about.”
