Read a letter from Santa Sack organizers, Janet Siwiec and Amber Kirkley:

Last year, our physicians colleagues made a HUGE difference in what we were able to do for our patients and their families on Christmas. Because of your participation, we were able to get gift cards and individualized gifts for long term/frequent patients and families with special Christmas wishes.

We are reaching again this year to see if you would like to contribute to the UNC Santa Sacks project this holiday season. Every Christmas Eve night we give a “Santa Sack” of gifts for each pediatric patient and their siblings throughout the hospital. We get many donations for younger patients, but very few donations for teenagers. Over the years, we have found gift cards and electronics are generally what teens want! Amazon, Target, Walmart, Chick-fil-a, Dominos, Game stop, and Starbucks gift cards are some of the most requested.

We know this season is filled with many requests on your time and money, but we hope that you will consider contributing to this endeavor that has a direct impact for many of the patients we care for every day.

Please let us know if you would be willing to contribute in any way and share with your teams!

Janet Siwiec Janet.Siwiec@unchealth.unc.edu and I (Amber Kirkley) amber.kirkley@unchealth.unc.edu manage the Santa Sack program and are available December 16th-December 24th (except Sundays) to accept any donations. Please email us if you are interested!

Thank you so much for all you do-
