Whelan named Community Based Longitudinal Care Co-Director

Karina Whelan, MD, assistant professor of medicine, has been named co-director of the Community Based Longitudinal Care course.

Whelan holds appointments in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. An alumnus of UNC School of Medicine, she completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Michigan.

Whelan practices clinical medicine in interprofessional teams in both medicine and pediatric settings, positioning her well for her new role.

In her clinical practice, she emphasizes continuous quality improvement, and she is eager to continue the excellent QI curriculum developed by Amy Shaheen, MD, whose contributions to CBLC have been exceptional.

Whelan has experience teaching in a variety of settings, including clinical, small groups, and large groups.
