NC Promise Scholarship

The North Carolina General Assembly, recognizing the mission of the UNC School of Medicine and the opportunity for its alumni to care for the health of our state, has allocated support to create the North Carolina Rural Promise Scholars program, the aim of which is to incentivize MS3 and MS4 students through a one-time offer of debt forgiveness with a commitment to rural and underserved service across the state.

Did you know that 40% of North Carolinians live in one 80 rural counties? Of those 80 rural counties, 73 have an identified health professions shortage in primary care. These rural counties include many wonderful places to live and work.
