Myron Cohen, MD, has been selected to join the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Center’s advisory board. Board members include researchers and policymakers involved in global health. Cohen leads the UNC Institute for Global Health & Infectious Diseases and serves as Carolina’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Health.

“Over the past 50 years, the NIH Fogarty International Center (FIC) has been involved in one way or another with the most important and critical global research projects,” Cohen said. “The FIC is central to research training worldwide. It is a great privilege to join the FIC Advisory Board, and I hope I can make a contribution.”

The Fogarty International Center supports global health research led by U.S. and international researchers. Fogarty also builds relationships between research institutions worldwide and trains the next generation of scientists to address global health needs.

The advisory board meets three times a year to provide second-level review of Fogarty grant applications. Board members also provide strategic advice to the Fogarty International Center on its policies and programs.
