Highlighting UNC Medical Center’s Policy on Non-Discrimination Against Providers and Staff

In February, UNC Medical Center adopted a policy on non-discrimination against providers and staff. The policy reads, in part: “UNC Medical Center expects its patients to respect our providers and staff without regard to an individual's race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, political affiliation, or veteran status.”

This policy reflects UNC Medical Center’s commitment to encouraging and sustaining a health care environment that is respectful, inclusive and free from prohibited conduct such as discrimination and harassment. Just as UNC Medical Center respects the dignity of every patient, patients are also expected to respect the dignity of all providers, learners, and staff.
