Each year, the UNC School of Medicine Standing Committees Election offers faculty an opportunity to participate in medical school governance by serving on a committee as a faculty representative or simply voting in the election. The following committees will be impacted by this year’s election, which will launch on April 8th.

Each year, the UNC School of Medicine Standing Committees Election offers faculty an opportunity to participate in medical school governance by serving on a committee as a faculty representative or simply voting in the election. The following committees will be impacted by this year’s election, which will launch on April 8th. Please look for an email beginning of April with your personal link to the election ballot. The election will close on April 22nd.

Education Committee

The Education Committee has the responsibility for the overall design, management, and evaluation of the medical student curriculum.  This committee oversees curricular content, methods of pedagogy and medical student assessment that are appropriate for achievement of the school’s educational objectives, and more. 

There are two vacancies on this committee expected to be filled during this year’s election. 

Committee to Review Appointments and Promotions to Associate Professor (Tenure Track)

The Committee to Review Appointments and Promotions to Associate Professor oversees the review of initial appointments of tenured Associate Professors, promotions of Assistant Professors to Associate Professors conferring tenure, and more.

There are four vacancies expected to be filled by this year’s election.

Committee to Review Appointments and Promotions to Full Professor (Tenure Track)

The Committee to Review Appointments and Promotions to Full Professor oversees the review of initial appointments at the rank of Full Professor with tenure, all promotions from Associate Professor to Full Professor with tenure.

There are two vacancies expected to be filled by this year’s election. 

Committee to Review Promotions of Fixed Term Faculty

The Committee to Review Promotions of Fixed Term Faculty considers recommendations for promotion of fixed term faculty to both Associate Professor and Full Professor, and submits recommendations regarding the above noted actions to the Advisory Committee for action.

There are three vacancies expected to be filled by this year’s election.
