Jonathan Oberlander, PhD, chair of the department of social medicine, is the author of a Perspective article published in the May 8, 2019 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

His opinion piece, titled "Sitting in Limbo - Obamacare Under Divided Government," argues that the Affordable Care Act "has proved remarkably resilient" despite recurrent threats to its existence.

The ACA "has produced important successes and transformed the health care landscape," Oberlander wrote, and any attempt to undo the ACA "is easier said than done," his piece concludes.
