Seeking faculty lead for the Office of Student Research

The Office of Student Research seeks a faculty leader to build on the robust Carolina Medical Student Research Program, and to expand the breadth and depth of research experiences available to students throughout their time at Carolina.

The Office of Student Research seeks a faculty leader to build on its current robust Carolina Medical Student Research Program, and to expand the breadth and depth of research experiences available to students throughout their time at Carolina. This position will be supported at 0.2 FTE up to the NIH cap through the Office of Medical Education. There will also be a full time staff member dedicated to supporting the activities of the Office of Student Research

 Director of the Office of Student Research Qualifications and Responsibilities: This faculty member will likely be an MD or MD/PhD who does clinical or translational research with funding from NIH, PCORI or similar and who has a passion for medical education.  Previous experience in medical education and/or research mentoring is desirable.

  1. Oversight: Enhance research opportunities for medical students by raising the visibility of the Office of Student Research, identifying new research opportunities for medical students, and working with administrative staff to secure funding for student stipends.
  2. Education: Refine and help teach curriculum that helps students succeed in research. 
  3. Administration: Work closely with the administrative staff to run the program.
