All university employees are asked to take the 2020 Employee Engagement Survey issued by the University of North Carolina System. The closing date is February 25.

You may have recently received an invitation and several reminders to participate in the University of North Carolina System Employee Engagement Survey, distributed by ModernThink, an independent research firm that specializes in higher education. The UNC System encourages you to complete the survey so that the university and the system can better understand the areas in our workplace that need attention and improvement, and those that are working well for you. The survey should take no longer than 20-25 minutes to complete.

Please visit hr.unc.edu/engagement-survey for more details about the survey. Employees may call ModernThink at 888-684-4658 for questions about confidentiality or how to complete the survey.

The UNC System Employee Engagement Survey is a five-year project developed to provide ongoing data in support of the goals of the UNC System Strategic Plan. Since 2018, each institution in the system has participated in this biennial system-wide survey, which helps gauge and enhance employees’ experiences in the workplace. UNC-Chapel Hill has used data from the survey to improve business processes, such as hiring times, and to inform communications. The university also leveraged results from the last survey to advocate for more expansive leave and benefits packages for UNC System employees.
If you have already completed the survey, thank you for your time and input. For those who have not completed the survey, please look for an email with survey links from ModernThink (please check your spam if you can’t find it in your inbox). The first messages were sent Feb. 4 and 5, and others were sent as recently as Tuesday of this week. The survey will remain open through Feb. 25.
