"Asian medicine has a long history and tradition," Dr. Park says. "Even now in some Asian countries, about 80 percent of the population depends on traditional medicine for primary health care. Hence, the systematic study of Asian medicine will offer us a pool of medical wisdom, and contribute to the advancement of world medicine."

Since becoming Director of Asian Medicine and Acupuncture Research at the Department of Physical Medicineand Rehabilitation, Dr. Park has maintained the goal of systematically studying the medical heritage of Asian countries, including but not limited to acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapies, massage, etc., in order to make this medical knowledge more accessible to the public.
